Waltz and hordes of 'dudes' want to allow males to cast Democratic ballots.

Vice President Harris ran over Tim Waltz’s biography this week, noting that he
was a father, a member of the military, a high school football coach, and a
teacher, but she focused on one specific anecdote regarding his time spent
coaching and teaching. Waltz is the governor of Minnesota.
Harris stated, "A student in Coach Waltz’s social studies class approached
him." The young guy, who was among the school's first out gay students,
wanted to form a gay straight alliance at a period when it was hard for LGBTQ
students to find acceptance. Tim was aware of the message that would be sent if
a football coach became involved. Thus, he agreed to serve as the faculty
advisor for the group.
It was a tale of Waltz lending a hand to a child, but it was also a tale of
how, many years ago, Waltz realized something that Democratic men are only now
beginning to realize in large numbers: that they are more than just a gender,
and that they can utilize that gender to influence politics.
constructing structures with authorization
Reaching out to male voters as males has been an amazing trend since Kamala
Harris rose to the top of the Democratic ticket. In addition to other virtual
get-togethers hosted by organizations like Win With Black Men, Men for Harris,
and Dads for Kamala, there's White Dudes for Harris, which recently had an
organizing call.
Gender-specific groups such as Women for Trump, Moms Demand Action, and Moms
for Liberty frequently target women. Indeed, a variety of Harris organizing
appeals directed towards various female demographics have been made.
However, men vote significantly more Republican than women do overall, and they
still make up a sizable portion of Donald Trump's support base. In fact, the
GOP—especially Trump's GOP—has established itself as the party of blatantly
masculine behavior.
Democrats have therefore been thinking about how to win over men to their cause
for years. Leaders of these groups claim that by organizing these calls for
men, they are establishing a framework that will allow men to back a Democratic
woman at the top of the ticket.
"It makes it easier for men who are more self-conscious about that
identification if you have men who are recognizably successful as men within
the traditional terms say, 'We're supporting Kamala Harris,'" said Jackson
Katz, a writer and cofounder of the Young Men Research Initiative, a super PAC
designed to inspire young progressive men.
The Bakari Sellers concur. He was one of the call organizers for Win With Black
Men.
The ability to return to your barbershop and tell them, "I was on a call
with 50,000 men for Harris," Sellers explained, "starts a whole
different conversation."
Similarly to Walz's belief that his position as a football coach would
demonstrate to students—probably guys in particular—that it was OK to exhibit
support for a gay classmate, the organizers of these clubs seek to demonstrate
to men that they are not alone in their support of Democratic women of color.
In fact, Walz himself targeted Trump on the White Dudes for Harris call,
highlighting Harris' gender and color just days before he was announced as the
Democratic vice presidential contender.
How often do you get to do something that will influence future generations in
a hundred days? Furthermore, how frequently do you force that bastard to
discover, upon his awakening, that a Black woman kicked him in the ass and sent
him on his way? Walz enquired.
Men's gender is revealed
Katz claims that none of this could have happened with Biden at the top of the
ticket.
"Harris's gender makes gender visible in a way that Biden's does
not," Katz added. This is because Harris is a woman. "Things like Men
for Harris will be seen in a way that Men for Biden wouldn't have been seen, as
that would be perceived as extremely strange and even redundant."
However, males are not a homogenous group. Distinct groupings possess varying
reasons for existing.
For instance, according to Sellers, Black men have a special obligation to
support Harris.
Now is our chance to demonstrate our ability to confront her. We constantly
hear that black women are the Democratic Party's backbone, according to
Sellers. "No, they are, but we're here too," we respond. And we're
going to exert every effort possible.
In the meanwhile, Men for Harris co-founder Mark Linton discussed utilizing
historic language when pitching to white men.
"This is the turning point where white men will genuinely take the lead
and declare that it's our time to genuinely start anew and write a new chapter
in the history of race in America," Linton stated.
However, it's evident that members of each of these groups are also giving
their own identities a lot of thought.
Mohan Sivaloganathan stated on a Dads for Kamala call, "We're here not
only because we're reimagining politics or the White House, but we're
reimagining what it means to be a dad." Additionally, we're doing away
with the stale cliché of the father who yells at everything but doesn't defend
anything.
